Because of Addison’s commercial atmosphere, residents of Addison homes enjoy a unique lifestyle compared to other suburbs. In 2005, the Town introduced a wireless Internet network covering most of the town. The network works to drive businesses to the area. It is so technologically progressive that it was named Google's 2014 E-City for the State of Texas. In addition, a 2016 Fundera study ranked Addison the 2nd best place in Texas to start a small business.
Recreation is important to the residents of Addison. The beloved Addison Athletic Club is a 52,000 square foot facility with 4 racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness and circuit equipment, gymnasium, aerobic studio, spa and steam rooms, tennis court, outdoor trails, and more! The Town operates 118 acres of parks and trails, and even the Redding Trail Dog Park. Every winter, the Addison landscaping crew plants 75,000 tulip bulbs that come straight from Holland. In the spring, the Town of Addison is one of the most beautiful gardens in the area.
Home to over 150 special events per year, residents and visitors enjoy many Addison attractions. The Water Tower Theatre produces plays and musicals, while the Cavanaugh Flight Museum houses a collection of aircraft since World War I. Addison Circle Park is the venue for seasonal events such as Kaboom Town (one of the top fireworks displays in the country), the UNT North Texas Jazz Fest, Oktoberfest and the food exposition “Taste Addison”. A favorite for area visitors far and wide is The Addison Improv Comedy Club and Restaurant which brings in some of the best comedic talent in the region.
Most Addison schoolchildren are zoned to the Dallas Independent School District, while some are zoned to the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. All residents within the DISD portion of Addison may attend the George H. W. Bush Elementary School – a PreK-5 school built with environmentally sensitive materials - although the residents living outside the Bush attendance boundary will not be provided transportation. The school is located along Addison’s trail system and has two athletic fields.
For those seeking a private school education, Addison is home to two private schools. The Greenhill School, a co-educational school enrolls students from preschool to high school. Trinity Christian Academy also enrolls students in K through 12.
