Whether you're an employer or employee, everyone should be aware of the new rules for Overtime Pay.
On May 16, 2016 the U.S. Department of Labor released a final rule, increasing the thresholds for overtime pay, thereby expanding the number of employees eligible for overtime pay. Qualified employees who work more than 40 hours per week will be entitled to overtime pay. The minimum salary threshold doubles from $455 per week to $913 per week, and the exemption level for those considered to be "highly compensated employees" rises from $100,000 to $134,000 in annual salary. The effective date for the final ruling is December 1, 2016.
