Conveniently located near to several major roadways, Plano residents have easy access to many metroplex cities.  Central Plano is bordered to the east by Highway 75, the west by Dallas North Tollway, the south by President George Bush Turnpike and the north by State Highway 121.  In addition, Preston Road, a major thoroughfare, runs through the city.  

Plano Independent School District

Plano is served primarily by the Plano Independent School District and has long been a source of pride within the community.  Small portions are served by Lewisville, Frisco, and Allen Independent School Districts.  In addition to Catholic primary and middle schools, the Catholic Diocese operates John Paul II High School in Plano.  Non-Catholic private schools include Plano Christian Academy, Great Lakes Academy, Spring Creek Academy, Prince of Peace Lutheran School and Prestonwood Christian Academy. 

For higher education opportunities, Plano is home to two campuses of Collin College as well as SMU-in-Plano - a branch of Southern Methodist University - a graduate university serving the needs of 3,000 working professionals.
